CSA 2014 – week one

Posted on

we finally moved and now we have a new CSA!!!!!!! it was a long hard hiatus from our CSA last season but we made up for it by visiting several different farmers markets per week in the Spring/Summer/Fall at the Cape. As well as finding Seawind Meadow Farms via the Harwich Farmers Market, also at the Cape, who monthly stocked us up on good meats/sausages, and weekly with eggs all winter loooong. we were able to participate in our usual winter CSA since it was a once a month pick up, which was nice! so on to out new CSA – it’s with Old Nourse Farm in Westboro. we have already visited them once at the Westboro farmers market and we visited the farm to go strawberry picking on Father’s Day. Really excited about the concept of this CSA since you get to choose what you want (and don’t want!) you use a points system to “shop” for the veggies you want that are available that week. they also have fruit!!! we will miss our weekly visits with our good friends that we shared our old CSA with though!

Here are the choices for the week:

Winterbor Kale (3pt/bu)

Red Russian Kale(3pt/bu)

Collard Greens(3pt/bu)

Rainbow Chard (3pt/bu)

Baby Bok Choy (2pt/ bu)

Heads of Lettuce (2pt/head) varieties include: Buttercrunch, Romaine and Salad Mix.

We also have Mesculn Salad Mix (4pt/ Pound)

Chives ( 2pt/pounds)

Strawberries (6pt/ Quart (1.5lb)

If you purchased a $300 share you get 15 points per week. If you purchased a $450 share you get 22.5 points per week and a $600 share gets 30 points per week!
