I use organic garbanazo beans that come in a box from whole foods. they are about 1.5 cups. I started out with just one and mistakenly put a whole bulb of garlic which was probably 6 large cloves. the end result was SO garlicky and I love garlicky food! But this was too strong. So I added an entire extra box of chickpeas….. still so garlicky. trying to decide what to add in next to fix it. Matteo loves garlic too and happily ate some but I need to fix it!

Hummus from Ina Garten

4 garlic cloves (I used a whole bulb maybe 6 cloves)
2 cups canned chickpeas, drained, liquid reserved (I used about 3 c)
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1/3 cup tahini (sesame paste)
6 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
2 tablespoons water or liquid from the chickpeas
8 dashes hot sauce (omitted)

Turn on the food processor fitted with the steel blade and drop the garlic down the feed tube; process until it’s minced. Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and process until the hummus is coarsely pureed. Taste, for seasoning, and serve chilled or at room temperature.
