csa eats! kohlrabi cakes

Posted on

in my A to Z to cookbook there are two recipes for kohlrabi patties/cakes. a quick google search brought up several others. most called for a yogurt dipping sauce with various mix-ins. I only had one kohlrabi and I also didn’t have all the things each recipe called for. so this is what I came up with. I didn’t make a dipping sauce. I also read you could serve with sour cream.

kohlrabi cakes

1 kohlrabi

curry powder

garam masala

salt

pepper

1 egg

bread crumbs

flour

minced garlic

peel kohlrabi and cut into a few chunks. shred in food processor.

in a large mixing bowl mix the kohlrabi with one beaten egg, a couple of shakes of curry powder and garam masala, some minced garlic, salt and pepper.

add some breadcrumbs and flour until a consistency in which you can make a pancake and the kohlrabi shreds stick together. sorry I didn’t measure anything!

heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan, fry kohlrabi cakes approx 6 minutes per side or until golden. sprinkle with salt
