Aaron, Laura, Chris and I have spent every New Years Eve together since 2003. (well we missed 2008, due to snow and illness, but were supposed to be together!) So this NYE 2009, we decided instead of getting Chinese takeout, we’d try to make our own! It was quite a few hours of cooking for us girls, but worth it!
New Year’s Eve Dinner
-Aaron actually helped with these. He figured out how to roll them out. thank goodness, cause the recipe makes no sense! they were super yummy!!!!!!!

Asian Brown Rice
-I’ve made this a million times before. However it didn’t come out so good this time. Something with the rice. maybe too much cooking at too low of a heat. It was very very mushy!!
Pork and Vegetable Potstickers
-one of my old standby’s. soooo good!!!!!
Chicken Lo Mein
-yummy. this is a keeper! we added sliced mushrooms, baby carrots, broccoli, water chestnuts, green and red peppers, and scallions. the recipe called for regular pasta but we used actual lo mein noodles from the Asian aisle.
Sweet and Sour Chicken
-we were a little hesitant about this one! but it came out sooo good. had to be fried in a lot of oil though. plus you could only do a few at a time. I think it took over an hour to get all the chicken fried up, and we didn’t even do as much chicken as the recipe called for! the sweet and sour sauce, was clear/white because we didn’t feel like using food coloring! plus we added a lot more pineapple, red and green peppers!
Homemade Fortune Cookies
